Prince Andrew’s Epstein interviewer makes stark prediction | Royal | News

Prince Andrew’s BBC Newsnight correspondent Emily Maitlis has made the stark prediction almost six years after her interview about the royal’s links to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew, 65, invited Emily to the palace in November 2019 for an in-depth chat about his friendship with late sex offender Epstein and allegations he had sex with a 17-year-old trafficking victim; He has repeatedly vehemently denied this claim.
Ms Maitlis’s reputation was tarnished at the end of her interview with the royal family, and Andrew announced he would step away from public duties shortly afterwards. Maitlis now predicted that the Epstein story would destroy more careers.
In an interview with British radio station LBC, he said: “I mean the number of people who lied for Epstein, whose career was completely ruined because of his connections with Epstein.
“I think we’re at the tip of the iceberg, we really are.”
Ms Maitlis’ comments came after Andrew told her about his previous relationship with Epstein, who committed suicide in prison in August 2019.
Andrew said at the time: “I cut off contact with him after I found out he was under investigation and that was in late 2006 and I wasn’t in contact with him again until 2010.”
Andrew was later photographed walking with Epstein in New York City’s Central Park in December 2010; Emails were exchanged between the two shootings dated February 2011 and later came to light.
Ms Maitlis has since said: “Andrew’s version was always that once I realized who he was I generally cut off contact with him.
“Now that doesn’t match because in 2008 [Epstein had] He was already a convicted sex offender and had served a short prison sentence. Prince Andrew told me he cut off contact in 2006, but he actually didn’t.
“We still don’t even know the truth behind that photo taken in Central Park,” he added. “But a lot of the news suggests that it was very useful for Epstein because it kind of provides komromat. It ties him together.”
