Prince Harry and Meghan Markle release a ‘Happy Holidays’ video featuring Archie and Lilibet as they rename charity ‘Archewell Philanthropies’ to mark fifth anniversary

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a carefully choreographed ‘Happy Holidays’ video today, featuring new looks at their children.

Archie and Lilibet are shown helping their father push a food cart meant to feed the poor in California on Thanksgiving this year, but again their faces are hidden.

Meghan follows them out of the kitchenwhile doing a little dance of joy.

While the film was released on their website, the Sussexes simultaneously released their own ‘holiday card’; However, unlike last year, their children are not given a seat. The couple was spotted holding hands at the Invictus Games in Canada in February.

There is no mention of Christmas in either version, instead using more American words: ‘We wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year’.

Both King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales said ‘Merry Christmas’ in their 2025 cards released on Thursday.

The Sussex film and card were revealed as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that the Archewell Foundation would be renamed Archewell Philanthropies, five years after it was founded after Megxit.

The couple say the name change is a moment to ‘expand their mission’ with Archie and Lilibet.

The couple and their two young children star in the Happy Holidays movie, which is prepared with cheerful music.

The film also shows Meghan and Harry’s controversial trip to support victims of the LA fires and their work supporting families whose children have been killed by online hate.

The Sussexes’ so-called royal trips to Nigeria and Colombia in 2024 are featured alongside Archewell Philanthropies’ new logo.

It ends with this message: ‘On behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Archewell’s Office, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year.’

It was published less than 24 hours after the Prince and Princess of Wales released their annual Christmas card, which included a new portrait of the future king and queen alongside George, Charlotte and Louis.

Harry and Meghan founded the Archewell Foundation, which follows the mission statement ‘Show up, do good’ after stepping down from royal duties and moving to Los Angeles in 2020.

It will now be known as Archewell Charities.

This year, the charity advocated for safer digital spaces and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI).

It also funded support for children affected by the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

The Archewell Foundation takes its name from the ancient Greek word ‘arche’, meaning ‘source of action’, and ‘well’, symbolizing ‘an abundant source or supply, a place where we go to dig deep’.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said: ‘This next chapter allows Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to expand their global philanthropic efforts as a family with meaningful reach and maximum impact, based on the same values, partnerships and commitment to showing up and doing good.’

Royal commentator Phil Dampier said of the name change: ‘Archewell Philanthropies? It looks like chemists. They really went crazy. Sorry, even crazier.

Founded in 2020, the Archewell Foundation is the centerpiece of Sussex’s philanthropic focus.

Last year, he donated a total of £1,026,240 to charities and received grants of £4,183,892; The bulk of these donations came from a cash injection of £3,947,148, which appears to have come from Fidelity Charitable, a US-based fund that also donated £789,415 the previous year.

The remaining income came from five unknown people.

In February 2025, the Mail revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had donated more than half a million dollars to gurus, funds and charities linked to Democrats.

The Archewell Foundation has donated £502,300 ($632,000) to individuals and groups likely to disappoint Donald Trump, who has repeatedly criticized the couple and recently called Meghan ‘terrible’.

Archewell’s US tax documents showed that the largest single payment, $250,000 (£199,000), went to a charity run by Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's charity, the Archewell Foundation, will be renamed Archewell Philanthropies to mark its fifth anniversary post-Megxit.

Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie could be seen behind the scenes of Harry Meghan carving a pumpkin earlier this year.

And a huge six-figure sum was handed out to one of the Democratic party’s leading PR experts, who claimed to be an expert in online ‘integrity’ and countering ‘disinformation’.

While their charitable work reflected their previous royal roles, critics accused the couple of trading in the family brand for business ventures.

In August, the couple’s media company, Archewell Productions, announced a “multi-year, first-look deal” with Netflix for TV and film projects.

The couple have produced a number of projects for the streaming service, including a documentary about their relationship and troubles with the royal family, and recently launched Meghan’s lifestyle show ‘With Love, Meghan’.

The charity’s name change was announced hours after it was revealed that Harry and Meghan had silently auctioned their access rights to the highest bidder as a way to raise money.

Tickets to attend a dinner with the Sussexes are said to cost around $100,000 (£75,000) per plate, as they use the company CharityBuzz to raise funds for charity Archewell.

Until now, the charity has relied on anonymous wealthy donors, allowing them to donate to good causes of their choice.

Last night a spokesperson for Archewell confirmed: ‘We have partnered with a number of fundraising partners over the years and CharityBuzz is one of them.’

A source revealed that Archewell used the company to support a fundraising dinner on World Mental Health Day.

CharityBuzz has raised $650 million (£485 million) for charity since its launch 20 years ago and has hosted charity events with George Clooney, Beyonce and Sir Paul McCartney.

Having dinner with or paying for access to a working member of the Royal Family is considered a no-no, and one of Fergie’s many exploits was offering access to then-prince Andrew in exchange for cash.

But the Sussexes have not been working with the royal family since Megxit.

Access to Harry and Meghan does not appear to have been announced on the company’s website; therefore, it may have been offered specifically to ‘high rollers’ who had previously paid to rub shoulders with celebrities.

A source told CharityBuzz about their relationship: ‘People will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to have dinner with them.’

Current offers include dinner with Better Call Saul actor Bob Odenkirk for $10,000 (£7,500) and platinum tickets to attend the Grammys for $50,000 (£37,000).

Meanwhile, sources reveal that change is afoot at the Archewell Foundation, with talk of a ‘restructuring’ of staff.

The spokesperson commented: ‘Yes, we are making some Archewell changes and will be sharing exciting developments on how we will deliver our charity work moving forward at any time. We look forward to further communication in due course.’
