Pune Police Recreate Lohagad Fort Murder Scene Using Fibre Dummy

Mumbai: Nearly 10 days after the crime, the Maharashtra Police on Sunday revived the series of events at Lohagad Fort in the alleged murder of 26-year-old Pune real estate agent Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly pushed from a cliff by his fiancee and alleged lover. Police reportedly used a fiberglass dummy to reconstruct the crime scene.
The reconstruction was carried out in the presence of 20-year-old Siya Goyal, one of the two accused. Goyal and her alleged lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhury, were arrested on June 23 and kept in police custody until June 29. Ketan Agrawal reportedly died after falling from the Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18, following which a case was registered.
Police believe that crime scene reconstruction could help establish what exactly happened at Lohagad Fort and determine the sequence of events surrounding the alleged murder.
During the reconstruction, the police asked Goyal to trace their movements from the time they reached the fort, establish the route they took, show the exact place where Agarwal was allegedly pushed and explain the sequence of events before and after the incident.
Sandeep Singh Gill, SP of Pune Rural Police, said: “The accused was taken to Lohagad Fort, specifically the spot where the crime took place, to recreate the crime scene. The entire sequence of events is being reconstructed: the route taken, where the accused was positioned, the specific actions taken and how the incident came to light. The accused has given details about the same.”
Police also created a dummy weighing the same weight as Ketan to reconstruct the crime scene, Deputy Police Chief Gajanan Tompe said. “Today, we reconstructed the crime scene at Lohagad fort as per Siya’s narration,” he added.
Police officers said the exercise was carried out to corroborate the allegations made by the accused with physical evidence, CCTV footage and other material collected during the investigation and also to help determine the sequence of events for prosecution.
Meanwhile, police seized the two-wheeler of accused Chetan Chaudhary as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder case. According to the police, the two-wheeler was allegedly used by Chetan to travel from Pune to Lohagad Fort. In addition to the vehicle, authorities also seized the hoodie and headphones that the suspect was wearing on the day of the incident.
25-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal was found dead after falling from a height at the foot of the fort on June 18. Initially, according to Siya’s statement, the incident was recorded as an accidental death. However, some inconsistencies in her accounts, CCTV footage showing a hooded man (later identified as her alleged lover Chetan Choudhary), call recordings and digital evidence led the police to convert the case into murder.
