Punjab: AAP leader shot dead while attending marriage in Amritsar

Aam Aadmi Party leader and village sarpanch Jharmal Singh was shot dead by unidentified assailants at a wedding hall here on Sunday, January 4, 2026, police said.
According to police, Singh, a resident of Valthoa village in Tarn Taran district, was attending a marriage ceremony in Amritsar when some unidentified assailants shot him at close range.
Police said Singh fell after being struck by a bullet in his forehead and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
It was stated that the police visited the scene, took security camera images and recorded the statements of eyewitnesses.
It was stated that the police started an operation to identify and capture the attackers.
