Queen Elizabeth II’s reaction to sweet Charlotte comment revealed | Royal | News

The late Queen Elizabeth II Elizabeth gave a sweet response to a comment about Princess Charlotte. The late royal died in September 2022, aged 96; Charlotte was only eight years old at the time of her beloved great-grandmother’s death.
The late ruler was known to be very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. According to Hugo Vickers’ new biography, Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History, the late Queen had a sweet reaction when told that Charlotte “looked a lot like her.”.
The author wrote that the comment was made by Nicola Sturgeon, who became Scotland’s first minister in 2019.
He wrote: “[Nicola] Sturgeon made a pointed remark that Princess Charlotte is very similar to the Queen.
“She lit up with a beaming smile, clearly excited that the resemblance was noticed.”
At the time of the comment, Charlotte, who was born in May 2015, was only four years old.
Mr Vickers also noted that although Nicola was not a monarchist, she was very fond of the late Queen.
He wrote that he said: “The special time I spent with the Queen ranks as one of the greatest privileges of my life. It was clear from my first meeting that she was an extraordinary woman.”
The late Queen reportedly wanted to invite all her great-grandchildren to spend time with her at Balmoral in the summer of 2022, just weeks before her death.
In the 2026 biography Elizabeth II: In Private. In public. Robert Hardman, author of The Inside Story, wrote that the late Queen wanted to spend time with them so “they could all have a happy memory of her”.
