Podcaster presses Booker on Netanyahu photo: ‘What the actual f‑‑‑’
Podcast host Jennifer Welch pressed Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.Y.) over a photo of him with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it was “heartbreaking” to see.
“I think the Democratic base feels like there’s a disconnect,” the liberal podcaster said in an interview on the “I Did It” podcast released Tuesday. “Like, we hear you, when you gave your 25-hour speech, I was like, ‘Come on, Cory, I love this. This is amazing.'”
“Then we have a photo shoot with Benjamin Netanyahu, and I was like, ‘What’s actually going on? Like, how can he do this?’ I thought. It was so heartbreaking. I felt betrayed.”
Booker later stated that he “has real problems with Benjamin Netanyahu” and called his actions “outrageous.”
“I’m not going to scream out of the chamber, I want to look her in the eye and talk to her about humanitarian aid, as I, Amy Klobuchar, and many other people have done,” Booker said, referring to his Senate colleague in Minnesota.
“And if people want to criticize me for that, then go ahead. But I’m leading the crises in the Senate right now because of attempts to annex the West Bank or illegal settlements. I’m leading legislation to sanction people who do that.”
In a July post by Senate Minority Leader John Thune (R.S.D.) on social platform X, Booker can be seen in a photo with Netanyahu along with colleagues from both sides of the aisle.
Thune “hosted a bipartisan meeting with Israeli Prime Minister @netanyahu to discuss strengthening @POTUS’ leadership to bring American hostages home from Gaza and restore peace and security in the region.” he said in the article.
