Trump returns to hospital for ‘routine annual check-up’ – for the second time this year

Donald Trump will have his second routine annual physical of the year at Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared in her statement that Trump will visit the hospital for planned meetings and statements with soldiers, and also noted that he will undergo an annual routine check-up.
Trump’s last checkup was his annual physical on April 11, less than six months ago. A. memory At the time, the White House physician stated that the president exhibited ‘excellent cognitive and physical health.’
Trump expressed concerns about his upcoming health check when he spoke to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.
‘I feel very good physically. “I feel very good mentally,” Trump said.
‘I think I’m in very good shape. “I’ll let you know,” Trump continued, adding: “I’m actually a person who believes that if you’re president, you should take a cognitive test.”
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the 79-year-old president suffers from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), which is common in the elderly and increases the risk of blood clots.
Trump’s hands were photographed in the Oval Office with either major bruises or clearly covered with makeup.

A bruise is seen on Trump’s hand during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington DC, U.S., August 25, 2025.
Photos also emerged of the president’s seemingly swollen ankles; this is not surprising given the diagnosis of CVI. This condition usually occurs when the veins in the legs, especially the ankles, do not function properly, causing poor blood flow and fluid buildup.
Cardiologist and CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner wrote about X: ‘The White House announced that the president will go to Walter Reed on Friday for his “annual check-up.” ‘It’s a bit early as he doesn’t have his annual exam until April.’
But Trump doesn’t seem worried about his health or intending to slow down his manic routines any time soon.
In a speech to Navy sailors last week, Trump boasted that former White House Physician Ronny Jackson, who was on the White House medical team during the Bush and Obama years, frequently praised his health.
‘He was also Barack Hussein Obama’s doctor. Did you hear him?’
‘He was the doctor of a man named Bush. And at a press conference they asked him: ‘Who is in the best shape, who is the healthiest, who is the strongest, who is the best physical specimen among these three?’ ‘This is very easy,’ he said. President Donald Trump!’
‘And I was like, ‘I love this guy!’ I said.
As Trump continued to praise Jackson, Navy officers reacted by cheering the president on with applause and laughter.
“I said I love him,” Trump said.
‘Ronny Jackson. He’s a congressman now, you know. So he was an admiral, he was a surgeon general – he was the entire boss of the doctors – and now he’s a very, very successful congressman from Texas.
‘Thank you Ronny and I appreciate those words. I will never forget them.’

While serving as Trump’s doctor, Jackson faced criticism from the president’s liberal opponents for frequently praising Trump’s health.
In 2018, Jackson claimed at a press conference that Trump “has perfect genes and God created him that way.”
Jackson also added at the time: ‘I told the President that if he ate a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he could live to be 200.’
CNN Correspondent Kaitlan Collins, a constant critic of the administration, appeared to praise Trump’s resilience this week, noting that White House staff frequently complain about not getting enough sleep on international trips with the Commander in Chief.
“He doesn’t sleep on these trips and it’s like you’re going to Asia or something and that’s the only time you’re going to sleep before you go on this trip, but Trump is always awake and talking,” he said during an appearance on Jason Tartick’s Trading Secrets podcast on Monday.
Trump plans additional international travel next week to celebrate the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.
