Retired Man Kills, Burns Live-in Partner, Keeps Remains In Blue Box

Jhansi (UP): In a gruesome incident, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death with an ax by her live-in partner, who then burned her body in a large blue trunk to hide the crime, police said on Monday. Police said the brutal murder came to light on Sunday when the loader driver paid attention as the accused tried to dispose of the remains.

Police arrested the main accused, retired railway employee Ram Singh Parihar (63), his second wife Geeta (50) and son Nitin (19) for helping destroy evidence.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Senior Police Inspector BBGTS Murthy said police received information about a suspicious trunk containing goods in the early hours of Sunday morning.

During the examination, partially burnt human remains were found inside. During the investigation, Nitin revealed that he had brought the chest from his father’s house to hide it and that it contained the remains and ashes of Preeti, who lived with her father.

According to police, Parihar, a resident of Nandanpura, had married Geeta when his first wife was still alive and was living with her and their children in the Sair Gate area. He developed a relationship with Rajkumar’s wife Preeti Ahirwar (33) around 10 years ago.

Preeti, who worked in the house of a railway officer, left her husband and three children and started living in a rented house with Parihar in Sipri Bazaar Brahmnagar.

During interrogation, Geeta told the police that Parihar killed Preeti after frequent disagreements over money, allegedly because she was demanding huge sums from him. Parihar later admitted that he had been living with Preeti illegally for the last 10 years, but tensions arose when he suspected her of talking to another man who owned a beauty parlour.

He told police that on January 8, after drinking alcohol, the two had an argument about money, after which he attacked her with an ax and killed her.

Two days later, he put the body in a chest and set it on fire. While they were trying to destroy the ashes with the help of his son, they were caught after the loader driver became suspicious and warned others.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s ex-husband Rajkumar, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 103(1) (murder), 238(a) (causing disappearance of criminal evidence) and 61(2)(a) (criminal conspiracy). Murthy said that all three accused will be sent to jail.

Praising the role of the loader driver, the SSP said he would be given a certificate of appreciation and announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to the Sipri Bazaar police team who solved the case within a few hours. He added that although the identity of the victim was determined based on the circumstances and evidence, samples taken from the body were sent for DNA analysis along with the autopsy to confirm the identity.
