Dikshant Parade for 77th RR batch held at SVPNPA; IPS probationers ready for field challenges across India

The Dikshant Parade for the 77th Regular Recruitment batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer trainees was held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, on Friday, October 17, 2025, marking the completion of their Phase I training. A total of 190 officer trainees, including 174 IPS officers and 16 foreign trainees from Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives, participated in the ceremonial parade. Among them were 65 female police officers; this reflected the increasing presence of women in police leadership.

The chief guest of the ceremony, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary, congratulated the probationers for their performance and leadership during the training. “This land, full of tradition and sacrifice, has witnessed generations of khaki leaders being raised. Today it was your turn to step into this legacy,” he said. He praised Parade Commander Anjit A Nayar for leading the parade and lauded the Academy faculty for shaping the next generation of police leaders.

Emphasizing integrity and public service, he said the IPS must remain a people-centric force built on justice and compassion. “The police are not alone. Our strength lies in coordinating with other security forces and gaining the trust of citizens. The police station is the true reflection of your leadership,” he told the interns.

He also reminded officers of the physical and emotional seriousness of policing. “Your duties are brutal, the hours are long and the pressures are great. But your health and fitness are your greatest asset. Only the strong and resilient can inspire their men and serve the nation with inexhaustible energy,” he said.

The Chief Guest also emphasized the importance of the new criminal laws being implemented across the country, saying that the group will be among the first groups to enter service fully trained under the updated legal framework.

At the ceremony, many parole officers were rewarded for their achievements. Anjit A Nayar from Tamil Nadu bagged the Best Probation Director Award in Phase I. Kirti Yadav of AGMUT cadre won both the IPS Association’s Sword of Honor for Best Outdoor Parole Officer and the Director’s Award for Best Female Parole Specialist in Outdoor Training. The BSF Outdoor Subjects Proficiency Award was given to Rigzen Chophel of Royal Bhutan Police, while Mandhare Sohann Sunil from Telangana received the Director SVPNPA Award for Best Female Probation Officer in Outdoor Education.

Other awards included the National University of Forensic Sciences Police Science Award to Aswini S (Tamil Nadu), the Manipur Law Cup to Varan K Gowda (Nagaland) and the National Crime Records Bureau Computer Studies Award to Manoj Kumar (Madhya Pradesh). The Best Foreign Parole Director Award was given to Sagun Khadka of Nepal Police.

After completing the Delhi supplements, probation students complete Phase II of their basic training. They will proceed to regional practical training in their respective squads for 29 weeks before returning to the Academy on June 22, 2026 for the first phase of the training.
