Rowdy-sheeter jumps from building to evade arrest

A team from Bagalagunte Police Station was injured while trying to arrest a notorious rowdy who allegedly jumped from the first floor of an under-construction building in Soladevanahalli to escape arrest on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Nagaraj, suffered serious injuries in the fall and was hospitalized and is still recovering.

Sub-Inspector of Police Pradeep Kumar C. in his complaint stated that he was recently posted as PSI at Bagalagunte Police Station and was investigating a case registered under various sections of the SC/ST Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

As part of the investigation, the police were searching for the prime accused Nagaraj, who was absconding. Based on reliable information that he was hiding in an under-construction house in Soladevanahalli, PSI Pradeep Kumar along with ASI Srinivas and other police personnel visited the spot around 1.30 pm on May 21.

Detecting that the suspect was on the terrace of the building, the police team came to the suspect and identified him. However, Nagaraj allegedly pushed the police personnel, prevented them from performing their duties and tried to flee the scene.

It was reported that during his escape attempt, the suspect jumped from the first floor of the building and was seriously injured. PSI Srinivas was also injured during the fight, police said.

The suspect was later secured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Medical reports confirmed that he suffered compression injuries from the fall. The police are waiting for him to recover before arresting him.

A fresh case has been registered against Nagaraj at Soladevanahalli Police Station for assaulting and obstructing police officers in the discharge of official duty.
