Hyderabad Retains Core AI Work As Companies Add Capacity In Vizag

Hyderabad: According to city-level data published by ANSR, companies are keeping their core artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) teams in Hyderabad and adding smaller teams in Visakhapatnam for expansion based on cost, land and graduate availability.
ANSR data shows that Hyderabad continues to host the majority of core AI and machine learning work. The city has around 9.4 lakh technologists, allowing companies to manage large teams that need experience and long-term continuity.
Hyderabad has a constant supply of new talent. According to the report, the city produces more than 60,000 graduates each year; More than 40,000 of these come from the fields of science, technology, engineering and management. This makes it easier for companies to grow or replace their teams without changing their core operations.
Wage levels reflect the type of work in the city. According to ANSR, average annual salaries for technology and digital roles in Hyderabad are around ₹21.1 lakh. These roles include building and running AI systems, managing machine learning models, and supporting big data platforms.
Infrastructure is another factor; Hyderabad has a 69 km metro rail network with 57 stations, international airport connectivity and established technology areas. Data shows that class A office rents in the city range between ₹70 and ₹90 per sq ft per month.
While the core teams remain in Hyderabad, companies are adding capacity in Visakhapatnam. According to the report, Vizag has more than 55,000 experienced technologists and produces around 30,000 graduates every year.
Costs are lower in Visakhapatnam. While average tech salaries are around ₹ 13.2 lakh and Class A office rents range from ₹ 35 to ₹ 50 per sq ft per month, making it suitable for expansion teams associated with Hyderabad-based work.
ANSR data also points to infrastructure planned in Vizag. A new IT corridor is planned in Tarluvada, Anandapuram and Bheemili and 5,000 acres are proposed for IT parks near the upcoming Bhogapuram airport, of which 754 acres have already been identified.
At the national level, ANSR data shows that India is home to more than 174 Fortune Global 500 companies with global talent hubs employing more than 9.5 lakh professionals. Around 1.26 lakh of these roles are related to artificial intelligence and machine learning.
