Russia’s war on Ukraine sees expert issue chilling warning – ‘no end in sight’ | World | News

Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine has prompted one expert to issue a chilling warning as there is “no end in sight” to the conflict. Vladimir Putin’s forces entered Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The conflict has now been going on longer than World War 1, and Professor Anthony Glees believes there is no sign of a peaceful resolution any time soon.

Speaking to the Express, the University of Buckingham graduate warned that the conflict could continue to spread and peace could only be achieved by crushing Putin’s regime. Professor Glees said the war would not end in the near future and the only hope for a quick end was for Ukraine to target a specific Russian military branch.

Professor Glees said: “I do not believe this war will end anytime soon in the sense of a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

“The only way to achieve a lasting peace is to tear Putin apart. Let’s hope that next time Ukraine attacks the center of Putin’s secret police state, it won’t be in St Petersburg. Let’s hope they destroy the Kremlin and those who work in it.”

Professor Glees claimed the war showed no signs of stopping because Putin knew he had to “destroy” Ukraine if he wanted to win the war. He added: “Putin knows he has to destroy Ukraine to win. But that’s not happening. The opposite is happening.

“Not only has the Russian war machine come to a bloodied halt, but since the beginning of 2026 Ukraine has seized more territory from Russia than Russia has taken from Ukraine.

“What we have now is a stalemate etched in blood, both in terms of the front line and deeper incursions into each other’s territory by both sides. Ukraine is achieving great successes with long-range drones, as we saw in St. Petersburg last week, and, more covertly, with its relentless attacks on oil refineries, the main source of Russia’s ability to wage war.”

Outlining when peace could be achieved, Professor Glees warned that it was likely to take “years” for the region to achieve peace.

“What we are seeing is the emergence of a zone about 20 miles wide that separates the Russian forces, who are no longer able to advance, from the Ukrainians, who are not allowing them to advance,” he explained.

“This region may transform into a mentality that allows a ceasefire to end conflicts and bloodshed. But this is still months, even years away.”
