Between 2015-2023, Kothari claims that he gave a double 60.48 crore to expand online shopping business, but he claims that they use money for personal expenses. In 2015, he said that he met through a agent called Rajesh Arya, both Shetty and Kundra’s Best Deal TV. At that time, Setty had more than 87% of the company’s shares.
According to Kothari, Arya initially requested 75 Crore loans for the company with an annual interest rate of 12%. To avoid high taxes, Arya proposed to show money as “investment .. After a meeting, the agreement was completed and they promised to repay it on time.
In April 2015, Kothari transferred the first 31.95 Crore installments. Later, another agreement was made in September and sent an additional 28,54 crore between July 2015 and March 2016. He also paid 3.19 lakh as stamp tax. In April 2016, Shetty was claimed to have given him a personal guarantee, but only a few months later he resigned as the company’s manager in September.
Shortly after, Kothari learned another bankruptcy case against the company and said he didn’t know anything about it. Despite repeated demands, his money never returned.
Kothari accused Shetty and Kundra of making a deliberate plan to get business purposes and personally spend for eight years. The complaint was first opened to the Juhu Police Station for cheating and fraud, but the amount was over 10 Crore, the case was transferred to the wing of economic crimes currently investigated.
