Shivaji Kardile Dies at 66: Veteran Maha BJP leader, six-time Rahuri MLA passes away after heart attack

Kardile, who had a heart attack in the morning, was immediately taken to the hospital in Ahilyanagar. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival, according to sources close to the family. His last rites will be performed later in the day.
Many political figures expressed their grief over his sudden death. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, representing Karjat-Jamkhed, lauded Kardile’s contributions.
“He will always be remembered for the people-oriented work he has undertaken in various roles including MLA, Minister of State and Chairman of Ahilyanagar District Bank,” Pawar told X.
Kardile’s death marks the end of a long and distinguished career politics of maharashtraHe leaves behind a legacy of dedicated public service in Ahilyanagar district.
Political career and legacy
A master politician, Kardile began his journey as a vagabond before rising to state politics. During his career, he was elected as MLA six times, including five consecutive terms.
She lost to NCP’s Prajakta Tanpure in the 2019 assembly elections but made a comeback in 2024.
Kardile’s political journey, apart from running as an independent candidate, also included holding Congress and undivided NCP tickets before joining the BJP. Throughout his career he was known for his hands-on approach and commitment to constituency development.
Party sources told the news agency that Kardile had largely remained out of public life for the past year due to a long-standing spinal condition.
He is survived by his wife, a son and daughters.
His son Akshay Kardile currently serves as the Ahilyanagar South district chief of the BJP Yuva Morcha. His son-in-law Sangram Jagtap is also a legislator representing Ahmednagar City constituency.
