Cost of Victoria’s renewable energy transmission plan projected to double | Energy

One of the largest renewable energy transmission projects in Australia, the cost of connection almost doubled and expanded the areas for sun, battery and wind developments.
Latest version Victoria’s 2025 transmission plan, Published by the State State Agency Viccom on Sunday, an increase of 200,000 hectares for developers.
The plan summarizes the parts of the state as renewable energy zones and the new transmission infrastructure required to connect them to the grill in the next 15 years.
The latest version increases the land areas set as HUB for wind, solar and battery farms from 1.66m hectares in May to 1.88m hectares in the proposed six renewable energy zones.
The change increases the footprint of these areas from 7.9% from 7.9% in the original draft offer, after saying that industrial feedback is needed to make larger spaces technically and commercially applicable.
In response to feedback, the number of different regions was increased from seven to nine.

The biggest change, the Wimmera-South Mallee region will be in the west of the state, while a new area around Colerain has been added to the South West region.
State Energy Minister Lily D’Embrosio said that more than 42% of Victoria electricity has been produced by renewable energy sources in the past financial year and that the state has reached the record level of renewable energy production.
“Our record investment in renewable energy works on Sunday, Sunday said in a statement on Sunday.
After the bulletin promotion
“Victoria has the lowest wholesale power prices in the country and helps to cut energy bills for families and businesses.”
Victorians, according to government data, Megawatt paid $ 107 per hour, $ 151 in NSW, $ 138 in South Australia, $ 127 in Queensland and 115 dollars in Tasmania.
However, the latest modeling predicts that Victoria can almost double the cost of connecting renewable energy zones.
The government initially estimated a cost of $ 4.3 billion, but Viccom brings the latest price tag to $ 7.9 billion, taking into account the new Australian energy market operator costs for transmission lines.
Although the government argues that the Victorians will generally be better with the wholesale energy costs reduced by more renewable energy delivery to the network, costs are mostly expected to be compensated through higher consumer bills.
Federal government 82 % renewable energy target On the national grill until 2030, from 43% this year.
