Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (July 8, 2026) attacked the Modi government over alleged irregularities in the UGC-NET examination, saying the government continues to turn a blind eye and sleep soundly despite repeated “scams” as years of hard work of millions of students are of no value.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that the entire country knows that it is futile to expect any responsibility or action from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

In his post in Hindi, Mr. Gandhi said, “The serious allegations that have emerged regarding the UGC-NET exam held last week are extremely shocking. Just a few weeks after the leak of the NEET document, reports are emerging that a 100-page PDF was distributed just before the UGC-NET exam.
“This PDF is only related to the question paper setting available in NTA. Around 90 questions in the PDF match those in the actual Sociology question paper,” he said.
Mr. Gandhi also claimed that the question paper was being sold for ₹ 2.25 lakh in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan and that the same network could provide question papers for upcoming exams like CSIR-NET, HTET and ADA.

“Even after repeated scams in NEET and NET, the Modi government continues to turn a blind eye and sleep soundly because years of hard work of thousands of students burning the midnight oil is of no value to them,” the former Congress chief said.
There has been no response yet to the allegations from NTA, which conducts higher education entrance exams at the national level.
Mr Gandhi said there would be no investigation and the students would not get justice.
“The only tool for change is our collective voice, a resounding ‘chhatron ki goonj’ [echo of students] “This will lead to an education revolution in India across the country,” he said.
