St. Bonaventure professor deletes post celebrating Sen. Graham death

St. A St. Bonaventure University professor is facing backlash on social media after appearing to celebrate the death of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham in a social media post before deleting it less than 12 hours later, prompting renewed scrutiny of political rhetoric on college campuses.
A social media account identified as belonging to Ibrahim Zabad, a political science professor at a private university in western New York, posted a message late Saturday evening celebrating Graham’s death, using provocative language and ending with the phrase “May he rest in hell.” According to Campus Reform.
Early the next morning, at 5:09 a.m., according to Campus Reform, the same account deleted the post and issued an apology acknowledging that the message was inappropriate, disrespectful and not compassionate.

A. Screenshot of Saturday X post The article, dated 23:56, states: “He was a certified anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, bloodthirsty bigot. He was the personification of aggression and evil. He supported every brutal war Israel launched against Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, Iranians, Iraqis and Yemenis.”
The post stated: “He sincerely supported Israel’s genocidal war and unabashedly supported the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their own land. He wholeheartedly and passionately supported the Greater Israel project, with all the massacre, occupation, dispossession, brutality and barbarism that this entailed. He was a ruthless warmonger and bigot. May he rest in hell.”
The account bearing Zabad’s name and photo, which no longer appears active, posted an apology that read in part: “I want to sincerely apologize for my post regarding the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful, and I failed to show compassion in a time of loss and pain. I regret the post and the words I used.”

St. A spokesperson for St. Bonaventure University said in a statement to Fox News Digital: “We are aware of Dr. Zabad’s post and subsequent apology. His post about Senator Graham was clearly not consistent with our university’s mission and values, and we will address the situation with him to ensure Franciscan values are preserved and lived at St. Bonaventure.”
Graham, 71, died Saturday night. An autopsy performed Sunday suggested Graham died of aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The news stunned Washington because Graham was one of the organization’s most active members and was even scheduled to appear on “Meet the Press” Sunday morning.

“The death certificate will remain PENDANT until all toxicological and microscopic testing is completed, at which point the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death,” Graham’s office said in a statement.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Zabad and Graham’s office for comment.
