Starmer says he wouldn’t let someone talk to his daughter the way Trump spoke to reporter

Sir Keir Starmer said he would not allow anyone to speak to his daughter the way US President Donald Trump spoke to a reporter.

To talk Loose WomenMyleene Klass said: “One of our closest allies has used, shall we say, ‘quiet piggy’ language lately.

“Would you let someone talk to your daughter, your wife, your colleagues the way President Trump talked to a female journalist?”

Sir Keir responded: “No, I wouldn’t, I certainly wouldn’t, I would say that openly. But I would also say that part of what we do with young people is to talk about behavior that they might not think is problematic but actually is.”

The comment was a rare public criticism of the US president from the British prime minister, who has previously gone out of his way to avoid attacking Mr Trump.

When Mr. Trump tried to ask reporter Catherine Lucey a question about Epstein aboard Air Force One last month, the US president made the offensive remarks before starting to wag his finger in his face.

The US president’s slap came as Sir Keir today launched his government’s new strategy to tackle violence against women and girls; £20 million will help teachers in all secondary schools in England tackle misogyny and foster healthy relationships.

The strategy aims to take on particularly toxic male role models and has named misogynist social media influencer Andrew Tate, who has previously been praised by Nigel Farage and sparred with Mr Trump’s son Barron.

Asked about his worst experiences, the prime minister cited a moment on the day of Labour’s election victory last year that “really broke my heart”.

He said: “There was the exit poll… and it said: Labor had a landslide victory. I was with my team and my family. I jumped up and punched the air as if Arsenal had scored a spectacular goal.”

“And my little girl, who was 13 at the time, burst into tears and was inconsolable. And it tore me, these two emotions, completely ripped my body apart.”

The only time Sir Keir publicly rebuked the US president was when he met him at the Turnberry golf resort in Scotland and defended London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan.

Previously, the White House had fiercely defended the US president for his “piggy” comment to the journalist.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “He screams when he sees fake news and gets angry at reporters who spread misinformation.”
