Surgeon Neil Hopper admits fraud over amputation of own legs

BBCA NHS Vascular Surgeon, who raised his own legs, admitted that he had two insurance fraud and three overcoming pornography.
Cornwall, 49 -year -old Neil Hopper from Truro, carried out hundreds of amputation operations in 2019 before removing their own legs.
The Truro Crown court heard that the injuries on his legs were the result of sepsis and that he had lied to the insurance companies, claiming that he did not harm himself.
In May 2019, he heard Hopper’s “mysterious illness” after knee amputations. In fact, he had used ice and dry ice to freeze his own legs, so it had to be removed.
Attractive by ‘greed’
He heard Hopper was “sexual interest in amputation”.
Hopper, after complaining that his feet suffered in May 2019, both legs cut.
The suspects were treated for sepsis before the surgeons should have amputations and surgery.
The court heard that he did not say the real reason for their injuries to health officials.

“Greed” was told to the court.
He had a message about the allegations that he had to do “milk” to a friend.
He spent £ 22,000 on a camper minibus and £ 255,000 for building work and home improvements and hot bathtub.
Prosecutors told the court that he “enjoyed” the interest of the media in his case.
“Motivations were a combination of sexual interest to remove and do so.”
The court said, “It seems like a long -standing ambition.”
Originally from Aberystwyth, Hopper from Cerredigion, Royal Cornwall hospitals were employed by NHS Trust from 2013 until they were arrested in March 2023.
After Hopper was accused, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust made a statement.
“The accusations are not related to Mr. Hopper’s professional behavior, and there is no evidence that proposes any risk for patients.
“Mr. Hopper worked in Royal Cornwall hospitals from 2013 until he was dismissed in March 2023 after his first arrest.”
