Japan earthquake: Authorities warn of incoming tsunami following 7.4-magnitude earthquake

A tsunami warning was issued after the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the northeast of Japan.
Officials warned that waves up to three meters high could hit the shore within the next hour.
The central Pacific coastal areas of Hokkaido, Aomori prefecture and Iwate prefecture are predicted to be the worst hit, according to the country’s meteorological office.
Local media NHK News reported that local people were told to “evacuate immediately” following the earthquake, which was recorded at 16.53 local time (15.53 AWST).
According to local media reports, the tremor was strong enough to be felt hundreds of kilometers from Tokyo.
People in the area are asked to move to higher ground and follow official guidance.
