US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Kolkata on Saturday, May 23, 2026, for his four-day diplomatic tour to India; The city represented the opening leg of a visit with significant political and historical repercussions.

Mr. Rubio’s India itinerary, scheduled for May 23-26 and also including Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi, is seen as diplomatically important in view of his planned energy talks with India and his meeting with Ministers of the Quad countries.
