Hyderabad weather: Check IMD’s latest thunderstorm alert for the Telangana capital and nearby districts

Authorities also warned that rain could cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and cause traffic congestion across the city. Earlier in the day, Hyderabad was under orange alert due to heavy rainfall, which was later downgraded to yellow after conditions eased.
Rain and thunderstorm warning in Hyderabad
According to IMD forecast, there will be rain and storms in many parts of India next week. The weather agency said varying levels of rain and thunderstorms were expected in the Southern Peninsula, East, Central and Northeast regions.
Heavy rains may be seen in South India in the coming days
IMD has warned that some parts of South India will experience unstable weather conditions. “Isolated heavy rains are likely over Tamil Nadu and Kerala between October 12-18,” the meteorological agency said. He added that Southern Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may experience heavy rainfall on October 13 and 14.
Thunderstorms and strong winds with speeds reaching 30-40 km/hr are expected for Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana between 12-16 October. Similar conditions will be seen in the Lakshadweep region on October 12 and 13.
Odisha and Central India alerted against storms
IMD has predicted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms at some or isolated places for Eastern and Central India. Odisha is expected to experience isolated heavy rains on October 12, as well as thunderstorms and lightning between October 12-14. Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are also expected to experience thunderstorms between October 14 and 16.
Storm warning for Northeast India
A storm warning was issued for the northeastern states on October 12. “Lightning storms are likely to occur over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura,” the IMD said.
