Karoline Leavitt’s family member ‘abruptly arrested’ by ICE after living in US for decades
A woman with close family ties to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
Bruna Ferreira was taken into custody in Revere, Massachusetts and is currently being held at an ICE facility in south Louisiana.
Leavitt has an 11-year-old son with his brother, Michael Leavitt. The little boy, Michael Leavitt Junior, bears his father’s name.
Ferreira came to the United States as a child with his family from Brazil.
In his statement, Michael said the 11-year-old boy lived full-time with him and his wife, but always maintained a relationship with his biological mother.
He added that his only concern was always security, well-being and privacy. [his] my son.”
Michael said he hasn’t had a chance to talk to the little boy’s mother since he was first taken into custody by ICE “a few weeks ago.”
A source familiar with the family dynamic said: WCVB He said Leavitt had not spoken to his nephew’s mother in many years.

Ferreira’s devastated family said: ‘Bruna’s absence was particularly painful for her 11-year-old son, Michael Leavitt Junior, who needed his mother and hoped every day she would be home in time for the holidays.’
‘This person is Karoline’s niece’s mother and they haven’t spoken for many years,’ an insider said.
‘The child has been living full-time with his father in New Hampshire since he was born. ‘He never lived with his mother.’

They wrote: ‘My family is going through one of the most difficult times of our lives and we are reaching out to them with a humble request for help.
‘My sister Bruna was recently detained on immigration grounds and is now fighting to stay in the country she has called home for almost her entire life.’
The family argued that Ferreira was brought to the United States with a visa in 1998 and had been doing so since then.He is doing everything he can to build a stable and honest life here.
‘He maintained his legal status through DACA, followed every requirement, and always strived to do the right thing,’ they wrote.

The surprising revelation about Leavitt’s family connection came just hours after a new Daily Mail/JL Partners poll found that Americans have an increasingly negative view of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s hawkish operations.
The agency’s approval rating is just 34 percent; That’s a four-point decrease from October.
Forty-five percent of 1,246 registered voters surveyed online disapprove of the agency.
The results come after podcaster Joe Rogan, who backed Trump at the 11th hour in the 2024 election, renewed his criticism of ICE raids this month.
“There’s ICE raids, they’re taking people who are American citizens, and they’re scaring everybody,” Rogan said in his Nov. 18 episode, alongside fellow podcaster Theo Von, who attended Trump’s second inauguration.
