359th Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh celebrated in Secunderabad

HYDERABAD

The 359th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated with religious fervor and devotion in Secunderabad; Thousands of Sikh devotees and people of other faiths attended Sunday’s closing ceremonies.

The main program was organized under the auspices of Gurdwara Saheb Secunderabad Prabhandak Committee, where a Vishaal Diwan was held at Tivoli Gardens. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the tenth Sikh Guru and founder of the Khalsa Panth, a large number of devotees gathered to pray to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Prabhandak Committee chairman Baldev Singh Bagga, general secretary Jagmohan Singh and secretary Harpreet Singh Gulati said the congregation started at 10.30 am and continued till 3.30 pm. The program included recitation of Gurbani, kirtan and kathas of famous ragi jathas.

Ragi jathas, including Bhai Sarabjit Singh of Patna Sahib, Giani Jaswinder Singh, former chief granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar, Giani Jagdev Singh, Bhai Varjinder Singh and others, composed shabad kirtans emphasizing the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh. Speakers recalled the Guru’s role in protecting the weak and promoting the values ​​of courage, equality and social harmony.

The preachers also spoke about the present-day relevance of the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and urged devotees to follow the path of peace, brotherhood and national integration.

After the congregation, Guru Ka Langar was served to all the devotees. Participants sat together in rows, reflecting the spirit of equality, discipline and collective responsibility that forms a core part of the Sikh tradition.
