Joe Rogan issues blistering takedown of the BBC after journalists edited Trump’s speech: ‘Full on lying and propaganda’

Joe Rogan slammed the BBC for broadcasting ‘complete lies and propaganda’ regarding President Donald Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021.

The streamer recently released the Panorama documentary about Trump’s speech before the US Capitol riots broke out.

In the documentary, Trump’s speech was edited together and the moment when he called on his supporters to protest ‘peacefully’ was omitted.

Speaking about the documentary on his podcast this week, Rogan accused the BBC of lying and argued that Panorama was a demonstration of the ‘deep rot’ of mainstream media.

‘This is a bit dangerous,’ he said. ‘It seems that these people – and this is just my opinion – felt justified in lying completely because it would lead to an ultimate good.’

He argued that the broadcaster had ‘lost all journalistic integrity’ and could no longer be trusted as an impartial news source.

The podcaster, who was one of Trump’s biggest supporters during the 2024 election, added that the documentary was “the clearest demonstration of how wokeness is rotting people’s brains.”

Trump had threatened to sue the BBC for $1 billion in damages, on the grounds that his speech was doctored, if the “false, defamatory, derogatory and provocative statements” were not withdrawn.

BBC Director General Tim Davie also resigned dramatically on Sunday, along with News CEO Deobrah Turness, following criticism that viewers were misled.

Rogan claimed the BBC’s coverage of Trump’s speech was edited to ‘make it look like they were trying to persuade people to fight and attack people in the Capitol’.

He emphasized that a remark made by Trump was combined with part of his speech 52 minutes later, which he claimed made it appear as if Trump was inciting his supporters.

“This is crazy,” Rogan said. ‘This is for the real president of the greatest country the world has ever known. He’s the president and you’re lying about the things he says to the public.’

‘If that doesn’t show the rottenness of mainstream, corporate-controlled media, then nothing does. Because this is pure rot,” Rogan continued.

‘At the top, if someone had quoted a source from the BBC I would have thought, ‘Okay, that’s like The Washington Post or The New York Times.’ It’s a very official source, so I’m guessing, “This must be real.”‘

Rogan claimed that the broadcaster had now become the ‘propaganda arm’ of liberal politics.

‘They turned it into activism and lies, and they did it publicly; When you listened to the entire conversation you could clearly see that he didn’t say that. That’s certainly not how he said it.’

Trump said he had an “obligation” to sue the BBC, confirming he would do so for $1bn (£760m) over Panorama’s use of his doctored speech.

He was asked about the potential lawsuit by Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in an interview Tuesday.

Trump said: ‘I guess I have to, why not? They defrauded the public and admitted it, this is the work of one of our supposedly great allies. This is quite a sad incident.’

He also claimed that the public broadcaster changed his ‘beautiful, calming’ speech on January 6 to ‘something radical’.

‘What they did was pretty incredible, they showed me the consequences of what they did, how they massacred. But it was so dishonest and the president resigned,” he added, referring to Davie.

Ingraham then showed the doctored speech to the audience and then asked Trump again to confirm that he would sue the BBC.

“I feel like I have an obligation to do that, because you can’t let people do that,” he said, noting that his success in suing CBS News’ 60 Minutes led to complete changes at the upper echelons of the Tiffany Network.

Trump said in July that Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes paid $16 million in the deal and expects an additional $20 million from CBS’ new owners for advertising, PSA or similar programming.

Davie’s departure from the broadcaster prompted praise from Trump, who described the former BBC boss as ‘very honest’.

It emerged that the BBC was ready to apologize to Trump and that its lawyers were working on the text of the response in the background, according to The Times.

Senior news executives addressed staff on Tuesday but said they could not comment on the Panorama broadcast for legal reasons.

Trump gave the company a deadline on Friday to apologize, retract it and pay him compensation “for the harm caused.”

A letter sent by the legal team in Florida from BBC Television Center to BBC President Samir Shah said: ‘President Trump will be left with no choice but to exercise his legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and not waived, including suing for damages of not less than $1,000,000,000 (One Billion Dollars).

‘The fabricated revelations broadcast by the BBC were widely disseminated across various digital media due to their obscene nature, reaching tens of millions of people worldwide.

‘As a result, the BBC has caused President Trump major financial and reputational losses.’

Trump’s lawyer Alejandro Brito’s letter added: ‘The BBC is warning.’

Brito said the President then listed his three demands.

The BBC said earlier this week it would ‘review the letter and respond directly in due course’.
