Afghanistan blames Pakistan for twin drone strikes

Afghanistan’s Taliban government accused Pakistan of carrying out two drone attacks on Kabul the previous day.

Wednesday’s attacks came just before the two countries declared a ceasefire following the deadliest violence between them in years.

Khalid Zadran, spokesman for the Kabul police chief, told The Associated Press that the attacks hit the city on Wednesday afternoon.

The first target was a civilian house and the second was a market place.

Zadran did not give information about the death toll, but doctors at the hospital had previously said that five people died and dozens were injured.

The surgical center, run by Emergency, a non-governmental organisation, said the injured had shrapnel wounds, blunt force trauma and burns.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban government’s chief spokesman, initially said there was an explosion on an oil tanker.
