UK snow maps show 5-day blizzards blanketing Britain in days with -14C freeze | Weather | News

UK weather forecast maps predict snow will cover Britain for five days later this month, with showers expected to cover almost the entire country. It will snow on New Year’s Eve, according to forecaster WXCHARTS’ maps compiled using Metdesk data.

The forecast calls for snowfall in northern Scotland, as well as on the east coast of Scotland and near Newcastle in northern England. The same areas are covered in white on New Year’s maps, but snow is also making its way into the south-east of England, hitting Norfolk and Suffolk. Maps for January 2 show snow falling across the east of England and Scotland, while a fresh round of showers is coming in from the West, hitting south-west Scotland.

On January 3, snow moves towards northwest England, with Lancashire the main affected area.

Temperatures are also expected to drop below zero on January 3, with maps showing a -14C freeze in Scotland, while much of England is predicted to endure -4C.

This is followed by widespread snowfall on Jan. 4, according to WXCHARTS; maps show almost all of Britain covered in white.

While the forecast shows only the south coast of England avoiding wintry conditions, we could see the heaviest snow in Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

There is no mention of snow in the Met Office’s weather forecast for 25 December to 3 January. The agency predicts the weather is mostly stable, although it may make the weather look colder.

Its forecast also warns of possible showers across the east and south of the UK. This is followed by largely settled conditions as we enter 2026.

The Met Office says: “Conditions are expected to remain mostly stable as high pressure builds across the north of the UK. This will see easterly and north-easterly winds strengthening throughout the period, with windchill making the weather feel colder.

“Although the weather is quite dry, winter weather may still be experienced in some places, especially in the eastern and southern parts, a few showers will still be possible, especially on higher ground. As we approach the new year, high pressure will dominate the air and gradually drift westward.

“This will maintain largely stable conditions, although there will be an increased chance of showers later in the period. Temperatures will be below average most of the time and frost is likely to occur where clear skies and light winds prevail.”
