Teen arrested in armed robbery of children’s lemonade stand in South Boston

A 14-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a juvenile lemonade stand in South Boston last week, authorities said Friday.

The robbery occurred Wednesday afternoon near West Ninth Street, when two suspects allegedly approached two juveniles operating the stand, stole cash registers and displayed a firearm during the incident.

The arrested suspect faces multiple firearm-related charges, including two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, authorities said.

The second person involved is still at large.

Suspects allegedly targeted an 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother at a lemonade stand operated by CBS 4 Boston reported.

The Boston Police Department (BPD) said the duo approached the booth by passing by it several times and asked if Apple Pay was accepted.

Before the children could answer, the suspects allegedly seized the money box and one of them showed the black firearm in his waistband.

Boston Herald reported The suspects allegedly stole approximately $50 from the safe.

The 14-year-old suspect was arrested Friday after police released surveillance video and photos of the two suspects Thursday afternoon in an attempt to obtain leads, police said.

In the video, the suspects were seen covering their faces with black masks, and one of them was seen carrying a black backpack and a pink box believed to contain money.

The teen will be treated as a juvenile delinquent and is expected to be tried in Boston Juvenile Court on delinquency charges, authorities said.

Police said they are actively reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident and asked anyone with information about the second suspect to contact detectives at (617) 343-4742.
