Police ramp up investigations into death of 77yo woman found after suspicious unit fire in Bateau Bay on NSW Central Coast

The murder staff was called to investigate the death of an elderly woman on the middle shore following the unit fire.
Emergency Service teams, after receiving fire reports on Sunday at 9.30 at a unit of Melissa Close was called.
The officers found a corpse believed in that of a 77 -year -old woman living in the unit.
The first research revealed that it was exposed to severe burns, but the cause of death was not yet confirmed by a post -death examination.
A strike force team, Areegra, was founded to investigate the death of the police and the murder team to investigate death, but it is still unknown to what the fire caused.
According to the commander of the Tuggerah Lakes Police Region, he said, “We are eager to talk to anyone who has any activity around the home unit in Melissa between the same hours,” he said.
“Although the woman’s body is not discovered until 9.30, the information given to the police shows that the fire burns for several hours before it was detected.”
Inspector Gillies said that the public was a cooperative, that a person had found a nearby item in Joseph Banks Oval and delivered it to the police.
“This product has been taken for more reviews,” he said.
“However, on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Oval and on Sunday, August 24, 2025, I appeal to contact with Wyong Police for anyone who has seen any suspicious activity.”
A 26 -year -old man, who is believed to be known by the woman, has been arrested since then, but in indifferent charges of domestic violence and robbery.
Police confirmed that there has been no accusation of the fire yet.
The previous inspectors spent working at the scene to understand how the fire started with the call of Sniffer dogs.
