Set aside political differences for development of capital city: Governor

Governor Rajendra Arlekar interacts with Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councilors at Lok Bhavan on Saturday.
Governor Rajendra Arlekar said that financial support from the government as well as support from the private sector can be provided on a large scale for the development of the state capital.
Interacting with municipal councilors invited for a development dialogue at Lok Bhavan on Saturday, Mr. Arlekar underlined the importance of dedication and efficient implementation for development and added that funds were not an issue.
The governor said that political differences should be put aside for the development of the capital and every council member should think about what he can do for the good of the people. They should introspect why they were elected rather than how, he said, adding that an answer will help them achieve a lot in the next five years and get an opportunity to represent the people again. Mr Arlekar said every councilor should submit a progress report on their achievements to the public every year.
He encouraged everyone to come together to ensure funds are received from the Union government.
He also called for a concerted effort to identify a place in the city to hold protests.
Mayor VV Rajesh and councilors SP Deepak and KS Sabarinadhan addressed the meeting. R. Sreelekha was not there.
