Man, 50, dies after entering water at popular beach
A man has died after going into the water at a popular Welsh beach in record June temperatures.
Police said they were called to Aberavon beach in Neath Port Talbot at around 4.25pm on Wednesday to reports of a man needing medical attention in the water.
Coastguard officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived but the 50-year-old, from Cilfrew, was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Wales Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin had been informed.
