Telangana HC Upholds Life Term in Money Dispute killing

Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court upheld the conviction and life imprisonment of a man for causing his death during a monetary dispute, stating that the evidence fully supported the findings of the trial court. The bench, comprising Justices K. Lakshman and BR Madhusudhan Rao, was hearing Mohd Sattar Ahmed’s criminal complaint challenging the order of Sessions Judge Sangareddy, who found him guilty of causing the death of a man during a violent altercation and sentenced him to life imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the incident arose from a dispute between the plaintiff and the deceased about money. During the argument, the suspect allegedly chased the suspect and hit him in the head with an iron stick. The prosecution relied on eyewitness testimony and medical evidence to build the case. The panel observed that although the incident arose from a sudden argument, the appellant did not stop after the initial altercation and instead chased the victim and continued the attack with a hard iron object. The court found that these circumstances demonstrated a conscious decision to cause serious harm and justified the conviction for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The panel found that there was no illegality, perversion or misevaluation of the evidence in the decision of the first instance court, and approved the conviction and sentence and rejected the objection.

Raidurg land auction request rejected

Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of the Telangana High Court dismissed the objection to the proposed e-auction of land parcels in Serilingampally mandal, Raidurg, at an exemplary cost of Rs 1 lakh, arguing that the dispute had become final before the Supreme Court and the plea amounted to abuse of legal process. The writ petition was filed by Mohammed Mohiuddin and four others questioning the action of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) in issuing an e-auction notification dated September 3, 2025 for auction of plots in Survey No. 83/1 of Raidurg Panmaktha Village, Rangareddy District. The petitioners alleged that the auction was initiated without following due process and despite the earlier writ proceedings being pending. At the hearing, the court cited a Supreme Court decision regarding the same research land. The High Court held that the allotment and allotment of 424.13 acres of land in favor of APIIC (currently TSIIC) has become final and no dispute regarding title or possession over the land will be raised thereafter. The judge observed that despite the finality of the Supreme Court judgment, the petitioners continued to raise their arguments on the merits of the dispute. The court further noted that the Supreme Court reiterated that unregistered agreements do not confer any right, title or interest in immovable property and subsequent administrative verification cannot overcome the legal requirements of the Registration Act. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka observed that the attempt to reopen issues already resolved by the Supreme Court amounted to abuse of the process of the Court and directed the petitioners to pay expenses of Rs 1 lakh to the Telangana High Court Advocates Association.
