Telangana’s 2026 Holiday Calendar Released

Hyderabad: Telangana’s holiday calendar for 2026 includes 27 general holidays and 26 optional holidays for state government offices; This means that major festivals fall on Sundays, reducing the number of holiday breaks.

According to the government order issued on Monday, government employees can take up to five optional holidays from the approved list with the ministry’s prior approval.

Common holidays include Republic Day, Holi, Ugadi, Sri Rama Navami, Id ul Zuha, Vinayaka Chavithi, Vijayadasami and Christmas; Some dates are fixed and others depend on lunar observations.
The following holidays for 2026 fall on Maha Shivaratri on Sunday, February 15; March 22 is the day after Eid-al-Fitr and April 5, the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, October 11 is the inauguration day of Bathukamma and Diwali is November 8.

The calendar also reiterated the procedure of Eid al-Fitr and the observance of the month of Muharram, for which the date will be approved by the lunar observation committee.

Departments and district administrations were asked to take action in line with the public announcements without waiting for new instructions. Units that comply with individual administrative rules, including industrial establishments, public affairs offices and educational institutions, will issue programs appropriate to their operational needs.
