Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya has finally broken her silence after she received a Rs 50 crore defamation case from the singer for speaking against her in interviews.

Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya has finally reacted to the Rs 50-crore defamation case filed by the singer against her. The Aashiqui singer took legal action against Rita for speaking about their past and broken marriage in interviews and ‘damaging’ her reputation. Now, Rita has finally reacted to the legal route and revealed that he slapped her with a Rs 50 crore outfit and not Rs 30 lakh as claimed by some reports.

In an interview to Bombay Times, Rita said, “I am shocked. He is filing a case against the mother of his three adult sons. He is asking for Rs 50 crore in the document he sent to me. I don’t know how Sanu imagined that I have so much money. It is really sad.” He added that the legal dispute has affected his life, “I will see him in court. And I will ask Sanu with folded hands – just try to be a good person and be the father of my three children. If you can’t love us, at least don’t bother us and don’t harass us anymore.”
For those who don’t know, Sanu and Rita got married in the late 1980s and separated in 1994. They have three sons, the youngest of whom is 31 years old. As Kumar rose to stardom in his prime, Kunickaa became romantically involved with Sadanand.

In an interview with FilmWindow, Rita opened up about her troubled married life, her ugly breakup and her struggles afterwards. Rita claimed to have had multiple affairs throughout their relationship. She further revealed that while she was waiting for Jaan, Kumar abandoned her and her children and made her life hell by juggling her motherly duties and her divorce case in the court.
Rita recalled how Kumar and his family forced her to struggle for basic needs like food, social life and even basic make-up. “Mujhe Bahar jaana allowed nahi tha, friends allowed banane nahi the. Makeup lagana allowed bhi nahi tha. The only friend I had was my bhabhi.” Rita claimed that during the days of her pregnancy, the family locked the kitchen and deprived her of rice.
