Thousands living near new pylons to save £250 on energy bills

While the government organizes plans to improve and upgrade Britain’s electricity network, some households will soon begin to receive £ 250 from energy bills.

Energy Security and Net Zero Department (Desnz) confirmed that those living near the new pilons were set to benefit from more than 10 years of payments. This will be added to £ 2,500 saved throughout the plan.

The discount will come in the form of a discount of 125 £ every six months for those living in 500 meters of a new or upgraded electric transmission infrastructure.

It will be assigned home and residents will be used, so people cannot be transferred if they pass to an inappropriate property.

The government says that those living in rural communities will probably benefit from the plan. In particular, the UK and Scotland are allocated for the most developments in the coming years.

The plan is part of the government’s planning and infrastructure bill, which started consultation on 8 August. In the UK aims to increase the amount of network infrastructure, which experts say they should be doubled by 2030 to meet the demand.

Energy Consumer Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh said: “When building infrastructure, we need to give homemade, affordable energy, and a share of communities should be given.

“So we come together with communities that host new pilons to ensure that they get direct, concrete benefits.

“We are with those who want Britain to return to what they do best: the building for the future, directing innovation and putting communities in the first place.”

Speaking about the plan earlier this year, Housing Minister Alex Norris said that the households were sacrifice of having a part of the infrastructure in your community ”.

The program comes with the approval of new plans for smart meters who can help households to save significant amounts of energy bills.

Strict new obligations will be determined to improve the intelligent meter process under plans. They will see new requirements for reducing their waiting times for installation appointments and repairs, which are implemented by OfGEM or to provide automatic compensation to customers.

Charlotte Friel, Director of Retail Pricing and Systems in Ofgem, said: “Millions of consumers rely on smart meters every day for accurate billing, cheaper tariffs, automatic meter reading and real -time data to help follow expenses.

“However, many customers who want a smart counter, we know that when they stop the study, they are waiting for too long to get installed or facial delays in repairs – this needs to change.

“These new rules are about to determine the open expectations of the suppliers, to encourage intelligent meter standards, and to protect consumers from bad service if things go wrong.”
