Three teenagers arrested on suspicion of murdering man in park in Essex

Police have arrested three teenagers, including a 14-year-old boy, on suspicion of murdering a 21-year-old man in a Chelmsford park.
Emergency services were called to Central Park in the city of Essex at around 7pm on Friday, where the victim was found with critical injuries.
An Essex Police spokesman said the 21-year-old died at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts to save him.
He said that three suspects, ages 14, 17 and 18, were caught a short time later and detained for questioning.
A spokesman for the force said: “Following the deadly attack in Central Park in Chelmsford, a murder investigation has been launched and three people have been arrested.
“On Friday, June 12, around 19:00, we were called by an ambulance upon the report of an attack in the area.
“Officers arrived within minutes and found a 21-year-old man with critical injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
“His family has been informed and continues to receive support from specially trained police.”
Police said investigations began immediately, which led officers to an address in Auckland Close, Chelmsford.
Arrests have been made and police continue their search efforts. The three boys, all from Chelmsford, are being held in police custody for questioning on suspicion of murder.
Detective Inspector Lydia George of Essex Police said: “This is a very sad incident. A family is grieving and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.”
“I urge the public and media to please respect their privacy as we continue the early stages of this investigation.”
“We are committed to providing them with answers and creating as clear a picture as possible of the circumstances surrounding what happened.”
He said the force had already made “significant progress” in its investigation and was not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the case.
“There is no ongoing risk to the public. This took place in a busy public area and although we have already received valuable assistance from the public we continue to appeal for information. Even the smallest detail can be vital,” he said.
