TIMS Sanathnagar operation theatres ready, diagnostic equipment enters testing phase

Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha was informed in the review meeting on Monday that the operating theaters at the soon-to-be-established Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS)-Sanathnagar are fully ready for surgeries, installation of advanced diagnostic equipment including CT Scan, MRI and digital x-ray machines has been completed and is currently in the testing phase.

Reviewing the trial run of medical services at the facility, the Minister directed senior officials of the Health department to convert TIMS Sanathnagar into a hospital that can provide comprehensive medical services to patients. He also reiterated the State government’s focus on strengthening the specialized heart and transplant care infrastructure at the institute.

Officials briefed the Minister on the medical services currently offered during the trial phase and pointed out the operational challenges and gaps identified so far. The Minister requested detailed information about the functioning of outpatient registration counters, consultation rooms, patient waiting areas, diagnostic and radiology services, inpatient services, intensive care units and operating rooms.

During the review, the Minister asked whether catheter laboratories and special organ transplant operating rooms for advanced heart and transplant surgeries were ready.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening non-medical services in the hospital. He directed the authorities to improve sanitation and safety management and suggested arranging catering facilities for patients and their attendants.
