Trump’s unhinged two-word answer over God’s verdict on Iran war | US | News

Donald Trump gave Iran until 8pm on Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and threatened to level the country’s bridges and power plants if Tehran refuses to comply.

Speaking at the White House on Monday, the president said the consequences of noncompliance would be devastating.

“I’m talking about complete destruction,” he said. “They won’t have bridges, they won’t have power plants.”

He described the extent of potential destruction as Iran being reduced to the “stone age”.

Trump insisted that the United States had already won the military campaign but did not set a date for the end of the conflict; a war that restricts energy supplies and puts pressure on economies on both sides of the Atlantic. He then turned his attention to the Nobel Peace Prize, which he had been pursuing for a long time but without success.

“I don’t like to see people killed. I’ve finished eight wars. No one has ever done this,” he said.

A reporter asked if Trump believed God approved war. He responded with two chilling words: “I do.”

“God doesn’t like what’s happening. I don’t like what’s happening either. Everyone says I enjoy it. I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy it at all,” he said.

Civil warnings

Military analysts are sounding the alarm about the human cost of attacks on Iran’s infrastructure, US news site TheGrio reported via AOL. Castleberry-Hernandez said the attacks would threaten the “basic needs” of ordinary Iranians and “exacerbate problems with energy, travel and the economy.”

He warned that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard would feel compelled to retaliate against equivalent American targets.

“This would be harder for them to enforce, but as long as they try to target our critical infrastructure that would have similar impacts, they would want some sort of proportionate response,” he said.

Economists and analysts are alarmed about the broader financial damage, the report said. It is feared that a protracted conflict would halt the flow of oil and cause price shocks in supply chains in the western world. Analysts warn that if the war continues for another six months, a global recession is likely, with 13 million barrels of oil per day withdrawn from markets.

According to the report, aluminum and helium prices, both critical for semiconductor production, are facing upward pressure, with knock-on effects on the technology sector.

It appears that agriculture is another pressure point. Farmers across the U.S. will reportedly feel the pinch later in the year when they place orders for next season’s fertilizer.

Monday’s ultimatum followed a post the day before on Trump’s Truth Social platform in which he demanded that Iran lift its blockade of the vital shipping lane. His message was: “Open the king’s throat, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell.”

Now that the deadline has been set, Iran will face a tough choice by Tuesday evening.
