U.K. Man Arrested at Disney World After He Allegedly ‘Pushed’ Teen Girl He Accused of Line Cutting

A Disney World guest was arrested for allegedly pushing an 18-year-old girl in line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The alleged incident occurred at the Magic Kingdom on Feb. 20, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE. The alleged victim claimed to the responding officer that another guest “pushed him with both hands,” resulting in him falling forward on top of his friend.

The girl said she and her friend were walking in the line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, passing people to catch up with the rest of the group. However, they claim to have encountered a man named Keith Richard Newman along the way.

According to the alleged victim, Richard, 47, of Newcastle, England, “had reached out to block her advances.” The girl said she tried to move around him, but Newman “pushed her back with both hands,” according to the affidavit.

The victim’s claim that he “fell backwards on his friend” was later identified as another witness corroborated the story. The teenager claims the push caused him to spill his water bottle “all over” his friend.

The friend told police that Newman called out to him, “That’s a tail,” before the alleged assault.

Newman admitted ‘putting out his hand to stop’ while speaking to police [the alleged victim] Newman claimed he entered the victim’s hand, resulting in physical contact, and also “never touched or pushed” the girl, according to the report.

The police report also states that the victim “had no visible signs of bruising, scratches or other injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.”

Given witness statements, the officer later arrested Newman on a charge of battery.

Newman was released on $1,000 bail on Feb. 23, according to court records reviewed by PEOPLE. One day later, the defendant declared his innocence in writing.

PEOPLE has reached out to Disney and Newman’s attorney for comment.
