Lauren Sanchez looks unrecognizable at 2026 Met Gala as plastic surgeons weigh in on shocking new appearance

Lauren Sanchez made a dazzling entrance to the Met Gala 2026.
The 56-year-old children’s book author and philanthropist caught the attention of photographers when she stepped out in a stunning navy blue Schiaparelli dress.
Undaunted by the protests that have reached their peak in the last 24 hours, Sanchez posed with arms-length poses on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The dress featured dazzling, off-the-shoulder silver straps, a very low-cut neckline that showed off ample cleavage, and a long, flowing skirt.
Styled her long brown tresses into beach-like waves and accessorized with dazzling diamond earrings, Sanchez showed off her flawless skin at the star-studded gala.
Her fresh face sparked a frenzy on social media, as many fans claimed she looked younger than ever and had cosmetic enhancements done ahead of the event.
Amidst her latest ‘unrecognisable’ appearance, plastic surgeons have zeroed in on possible procedures she may have undergone to prepare for this evening.
Doctor Mustafa AhmetSanchez, who has not treated Sanchez, told the Daily Mail that after looking at photos of the writer so far at the Oscars in March this year, he believes she may have had a non-invasive procedure.

‘She may have had a non-invasive facelift, which can remove some of the skin and tighten the face,’ he explained.
The plastic surgeon added that he believes Sanchez may have had upper cheek surgery, such as fillers or fat injection.
‘He’s probably also had a skin resurfacing procedure on his face, which is a combination of CO2 laser resurfacing plus radio frequency and microneedling,’ he said.
‘CO2 laser is basically skin resurfacing,’ Dr Ahmed said. ‘It lifts the top layer of the skin and as a result it becomes the bottom layer, the layer underneath becomes brighter.
‘She doesn’t have any wrinkles, so she’ll have that lovely glow with CO2 skin rejuvenation.’
Another non-invasive procedure the doctor said Sanchez may have had is RF microneedling, which he describes as building collagen.
‘You put these needles into the tissue and they heat it up and that then damages the tissue so the body produces collagen and that gives you a fuller face, makes you look younger,’ he said.
Doctor Lesley RabachThe facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, who also did not treat Sanchez, agrees and describes Sanchez’s skin as “beautiful and refreshed.”

At his latest ‘unrecognizable’ appearance, plastic surgeons assessed possible procedures he may have undergone to prepare for this evening.
‘This is probably a result of a skin resurfacing treatment, possibly the Fraxel laser and chemical peels,’ he suggested.
The doctor said the brunette beauty may have undergone Botox and fillers as well as tightening procedures to ‘highlight her beautiful features’.
‘I don’t believe she’s had any recent surgery, but I believe she’s had a SMAS lift (a facelift that targets the deep layer of fibrous tissue under the skin to lift and tighten the face) in the past, a rhinoplasty and possibly at least a brow lift with blepharoplasty,’ he suggested.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Sanchez’s representative for comment.
Sanchez, along with her 62-year-old husband Jeff Bezos, is the main sponsor of this year’s Met Gala and also serves as honorary co-chairman, while Anna Wintour, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams also serve as co-chairmen.
Their participation sparked outrage in the fashion world, with many fans claiming they were tarnishing the fundraiser’s legacy.

Earlier in the day, Sanchez attended the 2026 Met Gala press conference with former Vogue editor-in-chief Wintour.
Speaking at the event, Sanchez praised the Met for its involvement in fashion and the arts, while also emphasizing the importance of funding the sector.
‘The Met has always recognized something that the rest of the world is finally catching up on; “Fashion is art,” he said.
“The future of this art deserves investment,” added Sanchez, who married Bezos in a headline-making wedding in Venice, Italy, in June last year.
‘That’s why the Bezos World Fund is supporting scientists who are reimagining what fabric can be: sustainable silk grown in labs. This is happening.’
Appearing on the Today show in March, Sanchez said being involved in the planning of the Met Gala was “a very fun and meaningful experience.”
Speaking to co-host Craig Melvin she said: ‘Anna [Wintour] He called me and said, “Do you want to co-chair and sponsor the Met?” he said. “I felt very honored.”
‘These designers are real artists,’ he continued.
‘[Elsa] Schiaparelli was Salvador Dali’s best friend, and while his medium was a canvas, hers was clothes.
‘It will be incredible to see what everyone is wearing and to be able to really honor all these designers. I’m getting impatient.’

The 2024 event marked her Met Gala debut, where she posed with then-fiancé Bezos
The mother of three made her first appearance at the fashion event in 2024, when the dress code was The Garden of Time.
At the time, Sanchez appeared on stage in a strapless black velvet Oscar de la Renta ball gown with a bell-shaped skirt covered in a rose mosaic made of 2,000 hand-painted white plexiglass pieces.
Sanchez revealed that she was sent several options for the event by designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, and they were all much more in line with her normal style.
Speaking to Vogue, Sanchez said she wanted to move away from her typical “overly sexy, low-cut” look.
‘If you saw [the other options]”Oh, that’s so Lauren,” she told Vogue. “Extremely sexy, low-cut.”
‘And I say, ‘No, I think I’ll try something different.’
Although Sanchez didn’t walk with her then-fiancee, she did join him for a quick photo at the top of the iconic Met Museum steps before entering the event.
