UK heatwave mapped: Latest weather forecasts with temperatures set to hit 32C

Parts of England are set to be sweltered by a new heatwave this weekend; The temperature is expected to reach 32°C with “sweltering” weather.

Yellow heat health warnings, which mean a greater risk to the lives of vulnerable people and greater demand on health and care services, have been introduced by the UK Health Safety Agency in the South East, East of England, London and the East Midlands until Monday.

The Met Office said southern parts of England would approach 30C by Friday, with temperatures in the hottest spots likely to reach the low 30s.

Experts said some regions could meet the heat wave criteria by Saturday, and more broadly on Sunday.

The UK heatwave threshold is met when a location records at least three consecutive days where daily maximum temperatures meet or exceed the heatwave temperature threshold. The threshold varies by county in England. In London and the South East this threshold is 28C or 27C.

Forecasters predict the maximum temperature will be 32°C in East Anglia on Friday, 28°C on Saturday and 32°C in southern and south-east England on Sunday. The same areas may suffer 33C on Monday.

Last month, the United Kingdom was overwhelmed by an early summer heatwave, during which at least 15 people, including children, died offshore.

Met Office deputy chief forecaster Gregory Wolverson said: “This week’s weather reflects a contrast we often see in the summer months, with temperatures rising in the South and East while more unstable conditions move to the north-west of the UK.”

Meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey warned that rising temperatures and humidity will likely come with overcast skies for most.

“But these temperatures will still rise,” Mr. Vautrey said. “However, this time the weather will be increasingly humid.

“So I think people will definitely notice how muggy the weather is starting to get in the second half of this weekend and some pretty uncomfortable nights for good sleep, with nighttime temperatures in the high teens in parts of the south-east of England.”

Mr Wolverson said: “With more clouds around, we may not all see the wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies we experienced in May. There is also the possibility of occasional thunderstorms, which could cause heavy showers and localized impacts, particularly later each day.”

More cloudy weather and rain expected throughout the week in Scotland and Northern Ireland; It is unlikely that temperatures will rise above 20 to 21 degrees in these regions.

Much of Central and Western Europe is also experiencing significant temperatures; Well above average temperatures in some places are helping to fuel warmer air towards the UK.

The UK Health Safety Agency says the yellow heat health warning means “an increased potential for indoor environments to become very hot” and a possible increase in water-related risks, including “cold water shock and drowning”.

Last month’s record-breaking heatwave “carried the fingerprints of climate change everywhere”, a leading climate scientist said IndependentHe warned that the UK government must do much more to adapt to the new reality.
