UK set to be battered by 40 hour blizzard next week as weather map turns purple | Weather | News

Blizzards and persistent snowfall will inundate parts of the UK next week as the latest forecast suggests the white goods could arrive in just a few days. Snowfall is expected for up to 40 hours across the UK at the start of next week, according to the latest forecast from WX Charts.
According to the data, the north-east of England will also be severely affected by the snowstorm; Snowfall is also likely to cause disruption in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and the Midlands.
As conditions are forecast to last for several days, the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow alert for the North West and North East, with freezing conditions posing a ‘risk to life’ for vulnerable groups.
Charts show light to moderate snowfall amid heavy precipitation, meaning snowfall is unlikely to settle, but low temperatures could create the perfect recipe for sleet and black ice to form.
Although temperatures are expected to increase as we enter February, the rest of the week will be cold. Netweather TV stated: “As we enter February, it seems likely that we will transition to a moderate and variable southwestern blizzard, but there is serious uncertainty about how quickly this transition will occur.
“This means temperatures are likely to be mostly below average, particularly early this week, with the potential for wintry weather if very cold eastern air moves as far west as the British Isles.
“Later in the week, wetter conditions are more likely to occur, with temperatures near or above the seasonal average.
“Therefore, there is a possibility that temperatures will be below average again this week.
“Rainfall is likely to be above normal in the south and east of Britain, but below average in the north-west; sunshine is likely to reflect rainfall, below average in the south and east, but well above average in the north-west.”
