Amit Shah, U.S. Ambassador Gor discuss enhancing India-U.S. security cooperation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor held discussions on further strengthening cooperation between India and the US on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
In his statement about X, Mr. Shah said their meeting touched on “the field of security, especially counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics.”

He also added that the government is “firmly committed to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and ensuring that the people of both nations benefit from the bilateral relationship.”
In a related development, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is scheduled to visit India next week to advance trade talks. According to the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in their recent meeting.
Commenting on the meeting with Mr. Shah, Mr. Gor said they discussed “counter-terrorism, protecting our people from narcotics and illegal drugs, protecting our borders and cooperation to jointly bring criminals to justice in both countries.”
