The Supreme Court on Monday, December 8, 2025, sought a response from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on a plea challenging his election from Varuna Assembly constituency in the 2023 State elections.

A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta issued notice to Mr. Siddaramaiah seeking response to the plea filed by one K. Shankara.

“Issue notice,” the Bench said.

Mr. Shankara moved the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court’s April 22 order rejecting Mr. Siddaramaiah’s plea to declare his election from Varuna Assembly constituency invalid.

The petitioner alleged that Mr. Siddaramaiah was involved in corruption under the provisions of the Representation of People Act, 1951.

The Supreme Court had rejected Mr. Shankara’s election petition.
