The New York Knicks pulled off the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history, trailing the San Antonio Spurs by 28 points after the Wu-Tang Clan’s halftime performance.
Trailing by 29 points at one point, the Knicks charged back and sent Madison Square Garden into a frenzy.
But before that, the Spurs had nearly every ounce of momentum and the Knicks had few answers.

So how did they end up falling victim to one of the biggest collapses in sports history?
“We weren’t the hungriest side in the second half,” admitted Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama once again became Public Enemy No. 1 in New York City, booed at the entrances and cursed by the crowd. The defensive foul he received in the early period became a laughing stock again when it turned into an offensive foul. Obviously it continued throughout the night.
But Mitchell appeared to enjoy the moment after Robinson was called for a flagrant foul for striking Wembanyama.
“I’m inside your head!” cameras captured Wembanyama’s words.
Wembanyama was on the Knicks’ mind. Wembanyama was on the minds of Knicks fans. Starting the series, the Knicks were thinking of losing all momentum after winning two games on the road.
However, Spurs could only score 30 points in the second half and passed the ball nine times in the final 24 minutes. The 20-point lead in the fourth quarter disappeared within minutes.

“To work as well as we did in the first half and not be able to get the lead we had and get the job done is disappointing, to say the least,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said after the game. “We moved away from playing the style of basketball that got us ahead. And then at times you saw the aggression and belief that we played with early dissipate and they made some shots. We needed a few more tough-minded plays to get the job done.”
“Of course it was painful. It feels like we worked too hard and gave up on our leaders. It’s that simple. It just hurts,” Wembanyama added.
Now the Spurs have no choice but to be the hungry team as they must win three games in a row to prevent the Knicks from winning their first NBA title since 1973.
“This will go one of two ways: One is bad, the other is good. The bad one will give up. The good one will grow stronger from it, come together more, and that’s what we’ll do,” Wembanyama said.

“Holding each other accountable, communicating, not pointing fingers. After that, we either got it or we didn’t. We proved we could get through these challenges, but even though we haven’t gotten to this point before, I believe we’re built that way. We’ll be better from this, and it’s going to make us even tighter.”
