WA Police hunt for men who robbed house using fake police search warrant
Today we are at the Property Council national convention at the Crown in Perth; Here two former political heavyweights from opposite sides of the aisle took to the stage: former Coalition foreign minister Julie Bishop and former Western Australian premier Mark McGowan.
When Bishop was asked whether the Trump administration was changing global trade, Bishop said the president was abandoning the values- and morality-based foreign policy that had dominated U.S. administrations since the first and second world wars in favor of an interest-based policy.

“American diplomats tell me that when they apply for foreign aid or international development assistance for a country, they have to prove to the State Department that the funding will be in America’s interest and will make America stronger, safer and more prosperous,” he said.
“So you see nations around the world trying to determine America’s core interests, and then they can predict what actions President Trump will take.”
Bishop predicted that such foreign policies would continue for years to come if Republicans hold the House and Senate in the midterm elections and win the next presidential election.
“What will be of interest to our region, and of course Australia, is how other nations are dealing with this changing dynamic,” he said.
McGowan referred to the crowd booing the US national anthem at the WWE in Perth at the weekend as an indication of Donald Trump’s influence on the US’s global standing.

“This is a WWE crowd. Normally it was more Trump type of people,” he said.
“I think all these kinds of tariffs, attacks on friends and traditional allies, and a really abrasive and rude tone are damaging to America’s standing around the world.
“I don’t know if this can be fixed. I don’t know if America wants to fix it.”
“They don’t really care about it, but I think it has long-term consequences.”
Trump’s foreign policy has seen the rise of copycat leaders in other countries, McGowan said.
When asked about McGowan’s situation, Bishop commented: “I would say that, but I’m a diplomat.”
