Waqf Tribunal Says Data Can Be Uploaded Till Jan 3

Hyderabad:The 2,500-acre land parcel at Chengicherla, included in the Nizam-era Waqf records, is among the major properties facing documentation delays for registration on the Umeed portal. Telangana, whose deadline ended on December 6, recorded 46,482 uploads out of 63,070 Wakf properties, completing the notification process, first and second survey and user-wise Wakf institutions, placing the state third in the country.

Data of around 16,700 properties are still waiting to be uploaded on the Umeed portal. 33,929 of the total 63,070 properties are registered and fully registered in the Foundation Gazette. Additionally, approximately 12,037 new foundations were registered by user institutions.

The number of Kitab-ul-Auqaf (Nizam era) estates is around 3,800 but only 208 have been registered so far. CCLA’s Urdu records room contains many documents written in Persian, Urdu and Arabic. Foundation Board CEO Md. “Getting the records and deciphering them requires more time. These land parcels were notified by the endowment department of the Nizam government before 1954,” Asadullah explained.

“There are other lands of around 1,100 acres in Maheshwaram and another 4-5 large land parcels of over 1,000 acres and their documents need to be traced and verified to meet the requirements of the Central government. I visited the Urdu record room where many documents were thrown away,” the CEO added.

Of the 46,482 entries, 32,262 institutions are at the maker level, 9,841 are at the checker level, and 4,267 are at the approval level. In total, 74 percent of 63,070 foundation institutions registered properties on the portal.

Telangana Districts Dargah Association President Syed Gulam Afzal Biyabani said that many masjids, apart from officially approved institutions, are still not registered as waqf properties. “People in remote areas are unaware of the portal and the registration process. Therefore, we have filed an application with the Court seeking additional time for uploading documents,” he said.

A trustee who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that many institutions only became aware of this situation last week and were dealing with server problems while uploading data. He added that some masjid representatives were hesitant to register under the user trust, claiming that the masjids were built with their own funds.

Telangana Foundation Board member Syed Bandagi Badsha stated that Union minorities minister Kiren Rijiju had said that the penal clause for producers who register and do not upload any documents has been suspended for three months.

The portal was closed on December 6. “They have already closed the doors, how will we use the options now? It cannot be processed without even opening the control and approval process by the board,” he added.
