Built on subscriptions, tested by AI: Inside Shantanu Narayen’s Adobe legacy

The number of employees, which was approximately 3,000 when Narayen took over, increased to 31,360 by November 2025. The workforce is geographically dispersed: the US accounts for approximately 36% of employees and is concentrated in leadership and research roles; India accounts for roughly 29%, with the engineering center in Noida and Bengaluru. Some of this expansion has come from acquisitions. Adobe spent more than $15 billion on companies like Omniture, Marketo and Magento, creating its Digital Experience segment and adding teams focused on enterprise customers.
