The former RCB skipper announced that he will ‘take on a new challenge’ and play in the next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), opting not to participate in the 19th edition of the cash-rich event.

“After 14 seasons in the IPL, I have decided not to put my name in the auction this year,” Faf said in a statement shared on his Instagram account.

“It’s a big decision and looking back it comes with great gratitude. This league has been a huge part of my journey. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, for great teams and in front of fans whose passion is like no other. India has given me friendships, lessons and memories that have shaped me as a cricketer and a person.

“Thank you to every coach, teammate, support staff and every fan who has supported me over the years. Your support has meant the world. Fourteen years is a long time and I am proud of what this chapter has meant to me. India has a special place in my heart and this is definitely not goodbye – you will see me again.

“This year, I have chosen to take on a new challenge and will be playing in the upcoming PSL season. This is an exciting step for me; a chance to experience something new, develop it as a player and embrace a league full of incredible talent and energy. A new country. A new environment. A new challenge. I look forward to the Pakistani hospitality. See you soon,” he added.

The IPL 2026 mini auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
