Yankees vs Red Sox under bet looks strong with Carlos Rodon and Sonny Gray on the mound in series finale

I finally managed to get rid of the losing streak with my victory yesterday.

I can’t say we didn’t have a lot of sweaty moments because the match ended 4-3 in extra time. But this still gave us the victory from below. Anytime a game goes into extra innings, you have to be a little nervous, especially with a runner in rule two. We dodged a bullet there, hopefully we can dodge a bullet here too.

The New York Yankees look like the best team in the American League, but they don’t even have the best players. The team is getting some surprise contributions from guys like Paul Goldschmidt, whose days as a contributor I thought were over.

The team is hitting .241 on the season and they also have one of the best pitching staffs in the game. They are a legitimate World Series contender. The question is whether the pieces will fit together all season long. We have seen many teams disband after half the year. The Yankees can look to their National League counterparts from last year to understand that a good inning doesn’t guarantee you anything.

Today, they turn to Carlos Rodon, one of the best pitchers in the Yankees rotation. On the season, Rodon is 4-2 with a 3.70 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. None of these numbers are eye-popping, but they’re quite welcome for a third starter on the team. He wasn’t as sharp on the road as he was at home, posting a 4.26 road ERA. The good news for the Yankees is that they seem to have found him consistent; will give you five or six innings and three runs or less. The Boston Red Sox’ hitters don’t have the best track record against him; They batted just .227 in 75 at-bats.

If the Red Sox can somehow make it to the postseason, this is one of the series they will look to as the starting point for their success. They’ve already won the Yankees’ four-game set and now they’re looking to get a win. Boston hasn’t been very good this year and is still 11 games under .500. They had just 12 wins at Fenway coming into this series, so getting three wins against a good team should feel like a step in the right direction for them.

Even on yesterday’s broadcast they were talking about trading guys. There is no indication yet whether they will do this or take a different step. As of right now, today’s starter Sonny Gray needs to be pretty high on people’s wish lists if they’re going to listen to offers. Gray was very good this year, going 9-1 with a 2.95 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. His performance at Fenway is a big reason why Boston won there. He has a 2.61 ERA and a perfect 4-0 record. We bet on him at home many times this season and he really did not disappoint.

Gray faced the Yankees at the beginning of the month and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and two homers. This month has been a bit strange in terms of homers for Gray as he has allowed five homers in four starts. He allowed just four homers in 10 starts the rest of the year. I’m not sure what causes this or if it’s just regression to the mean.

Either way, today is once again the day to support gold. With these two pitchers on the mound, we should see teams swing and miss quite a bit. It would be really weird for me to see a bunch of hits lumped together. I think we should face a final like 3-1 or 4-2. Give me the gold for this.
